We are Sort A Brick

We give neglected LEGO® bricks a second life. With the world's first AI-poweredindustrial brick sorter, we turn piles of mixed bricks into complete, ready-to-playsets — more affordable than new, and far more sustainable.

Our vision

LEGO® bricks are one of the best things to happen to kids in the last century. And we want kids around the world to experience brick play as much as possible. We believe families should enjoy all the benefits of brick play without breaking the bank — while giving bricks a second, third, and fourth life.

We are already used to passing on the clothes and bikes our children outgrow. Yet we still spend hundreds of euros on LEGO® sets that are built once and then mixed together, making it hard to enjoy them again. As a result, hundreds of billions of perfectly reusable LEGO® bricks sit idle in people’s attics and closets, while we continue spending billions on new sets.

At Sort A Brick, we imagine a different future: you buy a set to play with, not to keep forever.

A constant flow of sets from one builder to the next — clean, complete, verified, and hassle-free. Pick a set. Build it. Enjoy it. Sell it back. Pick your next one. Build again.

Story

Back in 2022, the oldest son of one of our co-founders accumulated more than 100 kilograms of mixed LEGO® bricks that were scattered around the house.

They tried sorting them back into sets by hand and failed — just like millions of families before them. Because once thousands of bricks get mixed together, sorting them manually is simply too tedious.

That’s where the Sort A Brick story began.

The problem was hiding in plain sight: the plastic bin in the basement, the bag in the closet, the pile under the bed.

LEGO bricks are durable, interchangeable, and made to be reused. But once mixed, they often become ignored by children, avoided by parents, and effectively trapped outside active play.

Team

Returning billions of unused LEGO bricks to active play requires a multidisciplinary team combining deep expertise in physical AI, software, hardware, automation, and circular business models.

We’ve built that team in Vilnius, Lithuania.

What started as an idea shared by a couple of people has grown into a dedicated team of 20+ people, backed by prominent venture capital and angel investors from around the world.

Technology

Sorting mixed bricks back into ready-to-build sets is a genuinely hard technical problem.

A single regular collection may contain tens of thousands of parts drawn from more than 100,000 different LEGO elements, varying in shape, size, colour, material, and weight. Those parts must be recognized, matched against the inventories of thousands of sets, and physically sorted into the right places — quickly and with near-zero error.

Off-the-shelf industrial automation is usually either fast or flexible. Rarely both.

That’s why we’ve invested thousands of engineering hours and millions of euros into developing our own AI-powered industrial brick-sorting technology. We are already on the second generation of proprietary machines and continue improving them with every iteration. Our path is straightforward: make each new generation faster and more capable, then replicate the sorting machines so people around the world can enjoy more LEGO play for less.
